The Hornet movie - Updates. The Green Hornet is about a newspaper publisher named Britt Reid. During the day, he serves as a newspaper man but during the night he fights crime as the masked vigilante the Green Hornet. He has a sidekick who is an expert in martial arts who also serves as his valet during the day. Although he is a crime fighter, his reputation is not good with law enforcers because he is always talking with the criminals and sometimes he even makes deals with them. The movie was to be directed by Stephen Chow but because of schedule conflicts as well as some creative difference, he backed out and was replaced by Michel Gondry. It is set to be released on Decemeber this
year. Also, in 2009's comic convention, Seth Rogen who is to play the lead role, said that the movie will focus on the character's background and what his motivation is why he fights crime. The Characters - Seth Rogen will play the role of Britt Reid/The Green Hornet. He is the film's main protagonist and is one of the most thrilling heroes in the comic world. He is said to be a descendant of the Lone Ranger and he fights crime. However, his alter ego Reid is a newspaper publisher. Jay Chou will play the role of Kato. Kato is the valet of Reid in the morning and his side kick during the night. Fans of the television series will remember Kato because he was famously portrayed by the legendary Bruce Lee. He is Asian and as such, he is very skilled in martial arts. The role was supposed to be for Stephen Chow who was also set to direct but because of various conflicts, singer/actor Jay Chou replaced him. Cameron Diaz will play the part of Lenore "Casey" Case. If you are old enough to remember the radio and television shows from years past, Case was the love interest/secretary as well as the most trusted confidante of the Green hornet. However, in this movie adaptation, she will be reinvented into an outside persona that is not aware of the connection between Britt Reid and the Green Hornet. This is a nice development because this will come as a surprise to those who are familiar with the series. Because of this development, many people will not know the outcome and the flow of the story even if you are familiar with the Green hornet from years past. Christoph Waltz will play the part of Chudnofsky. He will be the main antagonist in the film and is a gangster that is not present in both radio and television adaptations. It was said that Nicholas Cage was first offered the role before Waltz.
