The Hobbit is set to come out on 2011 following the recent trend of sequels and fresh instalments, though this particular movie cannot be called a sequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The story surrounding The Hobbit as most J. R. R. Tolkien fans will know is centered on the events before The Lord of the Rings. Taking a step back from the gigantic franchise, Peter Jackson is giving the directing responsibilities to Gillermo del Toro. This doesn't mean however that Peter Jackson is completely snubbed out of the scene. He will still have a hand in the production of this movie but now he will take his place as its executive producer. Not a bad idea, if you take into consideration that
The Hobbit will be a completely different feel from the world he has interpreted in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hobbit is currently in development and will be released in two parts. The first part of the movie is said to be released in its target date on December of 2011 while the second part will be released the year after that. However, this is not to say that the two parts cannot stand alone. They are two separate films with the first part being an adaptation of The Hobbit as a story and the other would be patching up the loose ends that tie this movie to The Lord of the Rings. The geniuses involved in this franchise seem to have an eye for creating an epic collection of movies that fleshes out J.R R. Tolkien's massive universe. The cast members of The Hobbit haven't been completed and confirmed yet as the role of Bilbo Baggins is a much coveted role and an explicitly important one that it requires heavy decision making and consultation. Fans will either rejoice or pick up arms in revolt once it is unveiled who gets to play Bilbo Baggins. However, it has been confirmed that Ian McKellen is going to play Gandalf the Grey so fans can calm down for a little bit. The Hobbit is viewed as a world that has a shiny and spirited beginning. The environment should appear innocent and pristine and relaxing. The challenge that Del Toro faces is the transformation of this world into a darker, grim reality branching onto the dim Lord of the Rings world. This transition is vital because it details the events that unravelled which make the trilogy giant possible. However on its own, The Hobbit should also be able to stand and deliver. Another challenge is to not make The Hobbit, just that "prequel to LOTR" The Hobbit shall be a personal and a worldly journey and will provide new admiration and insight to The Lord of the Rings world.
