The Transformers movie franchise is definitely one of the most successful films of all-time. Able to touch on a wide spectrum of movie-going generations, Sam Witwicky, Mikaela Banes, the Autobots, and the Deceptacons have been some of the fictitious characters that people readily recognize, making them part of pop culture, so to speak. And to satisfy the craving of fans for more of Transformers, Michael Bay, director of the movie, is offering a fresh continuation to the story with Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen picks up from where the first film ended; Sam is about to go to college and go on as a normal teenager about to enter a new chapter in his life. Just when his college life almost seems normal, he faces another adventure that will once again require him to team up with the Autobots and fight a different set of literally larger-than-life enemies that plan to destroy the Earth, and well, the whole universe.
Let me give you a sneak peak of the movie’s plot:
Hundreds of thousands of years of ago, there was a group of Transformers called the Dynasty of Primes, who are out to look for sources of energy to sustain the AllSpark. In order to do this, the Dynasty of Primes used Sun Harvesters to suck energy out of stars and convert energy to energon, used to activate the AllSpark. There was a pact among these Transformers to spare and exclude life-bearing stars like the Earth from their mission. On the other hand, one brother of the Dynasty of Primes, called “The Fallen” put up a Sun Harvester on planet Earth, defying the brotherhood’s agreement. And in order to fix the situation, the rest of the brothers sacrificed their bodies to prevent “The Fallen” from obtaining the key, the Matrix of Leadership, which would trigger the Sun Harvester on Earth.
Zoom back to the present, two years meeting Sam Witwicky, Optimus Prime is assigned as the leader of a military organization, NEST, whose aim is to eradicate all Deceptacons left lurking on Earth. In a fight with a Deceptacon in Shanghai, Optimus Prime, receives a warning that “The Fallen” will rise again. Meanwhile in the US, Sam prepares for his trip to college, but before leaving, he finds a shard of the AllSpark. Upon touching it, he starts seeing images and symbols of Cybertrons. And the mystery and excitement of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen begins.
If you are a fan of the first film, you should definitely see Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. Aside from the action-packed scenes between the Autobots and their numerous nemeses in this installment, the film also shows interesting developments in the lives of Sam Witwicky, Mikaela Banes, and their interaction with the Autobots. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen has been shot in various locations around the world like Egypt and China, making this installment even bigger than the first film.
Just like the first film, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen has a lot in store for everyone: Action movie junkies would love the special effects; Movie buffs would appreciate the adventure; and Megan Fox fans would see more of her in the film. It may not be an Oscar-worthy film, but it is definitely a movie that everyone will enjoy watching.
